Climate Change in our Backyard

This summer, More than ever, we can see the effects of climate change around the world and close to home. The severe drought in the West; the heat wave in the Pacific Northwest that set all-time heat records and killed hundreds; the fires raging now and the conditions assuring a brutal fire season ahead; the early start of the hurricane season; the torrential rains and flooding in the South and Midwest; these are all directly related to climate change associated with increasing levels of CO2 and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The Climate crisis is not something that will happen in the future.  It’s happening right now. This YouTube video will explain more about the science, and how scientists are measuring greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and building models that show us where we are in relation to the past, and what we can expect in the future.
