You are invited to participate in the Gardening and Environmental Program Series offered by the City and County of Broomfield Parks, Stormwater, and Environmental Services Divisions. This Series provides education on Gardening, Recycling, Energy, the Environment, and Nature (G.R.E.E.N.). Details of these offerings can be found on B-REx.

Open Space Speaker Series
Show your support for Broomfield Open Space and learn more about trends, local wildlife, and opportunities to increase your enjoyment of open space. This event is sponsored by the Broomfield Open Space Foundation and the City and County of Broomfield Open Space and Trails Department. City of Broomfield Nature Programs
Free programs such as family sunset/moonlight walks and preschool morning nature walks are offered by the Broomfield Nature Program. Explore Bloomfield’s open lands guided by a local naturalist! Click here for current program information
Family Sunset & Moonlight Walks
Get a different feel for Broomfield’s open space as you explore it with a naturalist at sunset or after dark. Everyone is welcome! Please bring a flashlight. No registration is required for this free program.
Preschool Nature Walks
These Wednesday morning walks are designed especially for preschoolers and their guardians. Take a walk with naturalists through Broomfield’s open space areas. Learn about the animal and plant life in your own backyard. Explore the area and have fun! No registration is required for this free program. 
Friday Kids’ Classes
Explore the natural world from a kids’ point of view with lots of hands-on activities to learn about the world around us. Children aged 6-11 years old are welcome! Price is $3 per child and classes are limited to a maximum of 25 children.”

Every year, the Broomfield Open Space Foundation, in cooperation with the City and County of Broomfield and Colorado Parks & Wildlife, sponsors a free Kids’ Fishing Derby for ages 6 to 12 years. After a brief fishing clinic, kids will be provided with a pole and bait! Adult supervision and registration are required. This event is sponsored by the City and County of Broomfield Open Space and Trails Department, Broomfield Open Space Foundation, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Please park at the County Commons Open Space Trailhead (access from the west side of Westlake Drive & Lowell Boulevard) and walk to the pond. Please note that parking at the Westlake Drive trailhead is limited, with extra parking available at Paul Derda Recreation Center. Fishing poles and any fish caught can be taken home to keep the excitement going!
