Hello Friends!
This is Brianna with Sustainable Broomfield and we need your help! We are looking for volunteers to help educate residents of Broomfield about the benefits of switching to a Universal Waste Collection system.
A Universal Collection system in Broomfield would change from having multiple licensed trash haulers to a single hauler or district approach, which would…
- Increase efficiency
- Reduce road impacts and traffic
- Expand services including universal recycling and curbside composting pick-up, and Pay-As-You-Throw rates (your rate is based on the size of your trash container where smaller = cheaper and recycle and compost bins are free!)
Volunteers opportunities include tabling
The City and County of Broomfield (CCOB) is running an educational outreach campaign from January 16 – March 1st. Their tabling and door-to-door canvassing events are designed to disseminate accurate information about a Universal Collection system to residents.
Sustainable Broomfield will be assisting in these efforts with our own tabling and social media monitoring opportunities. Our goal is to inform and advocate for a Universal Collection system. If you would like to be involved behind the scenes helping us with items like event scheduling or making flyers, please select the “other” option under the Sustainable Broomfield link and tell us how you would like to help.
This is our big and possibly one and only opportunity to get curbside composting in Broomfield! If you care at all about this issue, please don’t let this opportunity pass by! Whether you’re doing it as a family activity, an involved resident, or for student credit, this is a great way to make an impact and to advocate for your city to have a much better waste collection system!
Thank you for taking the time to volunteer! We can’t do this without your help!
